I was lucky enough to spend the morning with Mrs. Funk’s grade 4 class Irvine School - PRSD8 .Students have been working hard on expository writing, the type of writing that informs and teaches readers about topics. Today students were responding to feedback that was given to them. This feedback gives students ideas to fix their writing, but does not fix it for them. Students then are taught to respond to the feedback by posting sticky notes that say “please notice…” All participants both learners and educators are active in the learning process! Feedback allows students time to reflect and improve performance. Students responding to feedback shows growth both cognitively and technically in their writing. Wow what can we say we have an amazing Irvine Family/Community you guys rock ! A message from Mr Rayner our Principal, “ We were able to host a school wide bake sale this week with all proceeds raised going to support one of our beloved students Frank as he undergoes treatment in Calgary…and I am extremely pleased to say that the bake sale was a massive success! On behalf of Frank’s family and our entire school community I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped organize, supply and give money to donate and purchase items. We were able to raise over $2500 dollars to help support Frank directly, as well as his family, during his treatment and recovery” Miss Shabley would like to send out a very heartfelt thank you to all of her grade 8 students and CTF foods class , Irvine Staff and all the Irvine families/community members who contributed baking and donations to the bake sale for Frank. We have really come together as a school family during this tough time and it is amazing to see all the support these past two days. Our school is amazing and we could really not have done it without you all. To raise $2500 for Frank & his family in only two day is truly amazing.
